About Tunnels and Trolls
A self-avowed sword and sorcery fanatic, Ken St. Andre was eager to get a hold of a copy of Dungeons and Dragons when it was published in 1974, but he had mixed feelings when given a chance to read the rules. His reaction was to devise his own set of rules which were published in 1975 as Tunnels and Trolls. Inexpensive and requiring only six-sided dice, T&T was serious low-end competition to D&D during the 1970s, but like Judges Guild T&T faded as production standards in the RPG industry rose.
Solo adventures requiring no gamemaster for play were a T&T innovation, and most T&T adventures are of this type.
